Touring the Louvre and Versailles

LE LOUVRE

Of course, we could spend days discovering the enormous collection kept in the Louvre, but we had one morning. Our guide selected a few highlights and gave us some great background and insights on all the pieces. It was a truly fascinating visit!

"The Sphinx"

"Athena"

"La Venus de Milo"

The iconic and much anticipated Mona Lisa painting.
Our guide explained why this painting was such a turning point in art history.

"Liberty leading the people"

"The Coronation of Napoleon"

"The Draft of Medusa"

VERSAILLES

Our lovely guide, Céline, led us through an epic historical tour of Versailles.

Aurélien, a French student who visited AFS last year, joined us on the Versailles tour. He is now in College studying engineering. The cultural exchange experience between the Lycée Saint Charles and AFS inspired him to work with the international students in his University.
